Harihar Fort, located at a place called Trimbakeshwar, is a very important fort. Long ago, when goods from Maharashtra were brought to the port, they were taken to the market of Nashik through different routes. Two forts, Harihar and Bhaskargad, were built to keep an eye on the Gonda Ghat route passing through Trimbakrange. Trimbakrange is a place to the west of Nashik and north of Igatpuri. It is made up of two main parts. In one part, there are forts like Basgad, Utwad, Fanicha Dongar, Harihar, Trimbakgad. In the other part, there are forts like Anjaneri, Ghargad. The Vaitarna River is the major river in this area.

Route to reach the fort:  Nirgudpada village is a small village situated near two forts Harihargad and Bhaskargad. It is 20 km from a place called Trimbakeshwar. There are two routes to reach Nirgudpada village from Mumbai. One route is via Kalyan, Kasara, Khodala, while the other route is via Kalyan, Bhiwandi, Wada, Khodala. You can also reach Nirgudpada village from Igatpuri via Trimbakeshwar and Nashik. It takes two to three hours to reach the fort from Nirgudpada village. You can take different routes to reach the forts, such as going to Igatpuri via Kasara or Nashik and then taking a bus to Trimbakeshwar. The other route is from Igatpuri and Trimbakeshwar via Khodala. You can take a bus from Igatpuri, Trimbakeshwar and Khodala from a village called Kasurati, which is next to Nirgudpada. It takes an hour to reach the forts from there.
